CSBD Hope For Healing Conference 2025
What We Care About
The CSBD Hope for Healing Conference is the first ever national conference dedicated to raising awareness about and stopping the stigma surrounding Compulsive Sexual Behavior Disorder (CSBD) and Betrayal Trauma. Hosted by Lit Path - a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization - during Sex Addiction Awareness Week, this groundbreaking event brings together leading clinicians, peer support specialists, faith-based and non-faith-based leaders, and individuals impacted by these issues to foster education, expand access to treatment, and amplify the collective voice of the CSBD and Betrayal Trauma community.
We believe that our voice is greater collectively than individually. By uniting experts, organizations, advocates, and individuals from clinical, peer support, faith-based, and non faith-based communities, this conference creates a unique space for sharing ideas, hope, and solutions that break down barriers to healing.
OUR CONFERENCE ENABLES:
The Hope for Healing Conference fills a long-standing void in the Sex Addiction field by uniting the community though our conference on Sex Addiction and Betrayal Trauma each year. More than just an event, it is a movement toward healing, hope, and transformation.
How We Live It
CSBD IS A SCIENTIFICALLY-RECOGNIZED CONDITION
We recognize that Compulsive Sexual Behavior Disorder (CSBD) is a diagnosable and treatable condition. It is officially recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as Compulsive Sexual Behavior Disorder (CSBD) in the ICD-11 with diagnosis code 6C72. Additionally, decades of scientific research and clinical experience demonstrate that compulsive sexual behaviors profoundly impact individuals, partners, and families. Effective, evidence-based treatment is available, and those struggling deserve access to qualified professionals trained specifically in CSBD and Betrayal Trauma recovery.
BETRAYAL TRAUMA REQUIRES A DISTINCT THERAPEUTIC APPROACH
Betrayal Trauma is distinct from the experiences of partners of individuals with other addictions. The relational trauma, emotional upheaval, and identity destabilization experienced by betrayed partners require specialized, trauma-informed care that goes beyond traditional support models for addiction recovery. Partners deserve to be seen, heard, and supported with approaches that validate and address their unique healing needs.
COLLECTIVE VOICE IS STRONGER
We believe in the power of unity—that by bringing together clinicians, peer support organizations, faith-based and non-faith-based communities, and advocates, we can amplify the impact of our work and advance the conversation around CSBD and Betrayal Trauma on a larger scale.
DIVERSE SCOPE OF COMPLUSIVE BEHAVIORS
Compulsive behaviors extend beyond drug and alcohol dependencies. We acknowledge that sex addiction, pornography addiction, gambling, workaholism, shopping addiction, technology addiction, eating disorders, and many others can be just as devastating to individuals and their families. These struggles all deserve the same level of importance, attention, and access to treatment.
TRAUMA-INFORMED, EMPATHETIC SUPPORT
We believe that those struggling with CSBD, Betrayal Trauma, or any compulsive behavior or related condition, as well as their families, deserve love, compassion, care, and support. We aim to foster a safe and nurturing environment where healing can take root through trauma-informed, evidence-based care.
UNIVERSAL IMPACT & INCLUSIVITY
Compulsive behaviors and betrayal trauma do not discriminate. They can impact anyone, regardless of race, age, sexual orientation, gender expression, nationality, religion, creed, ethnicity, or ability. We are committed to fostering inclusivity and providing equitable support for all individuals seeking recovery and healing. This includes faith-based and non-faith-based approaches, ensuring that everyone, regardless of belief system, finds a place of understanding and support.
BREAKING BARRIERS TO HEALING
Seeking help is already difficult—we strive to remove additional barriers such as financial constraints and the lack of qualified therapists. Our goal is to increase access to therapy, education, and community support so that no one is denied the opportunity to heal.
IMPORTANTANCE OF PSYCHOTHERAPY
Trauma and compulsive behaviors are deeply connected. We believe that ethical, evidence-based psychotherapy is essential in achieving long-term recovery and healing. We advocate for affordable, accessible therapy that integrates both clinical treatment and trauma-informed care.
PROTECTING ETHICAL TREATMENT PRACTICES
We firmly oppose reparative or conversion therapy, recognizing it as a harmful and unethical practice. As part of this commitment, we do not provide scholarships or platform opportunities to therapists or organizations practicing conversion therapy.
